I got my first camera phone while in class eight, and I went about experimenting and clicking different pictures. Around that same time, I came across Instagram. I got really fascinated with the concept of likes that the app currently has. I looked at this as a motivational sign, and pushed myself to click pictures
Gradually over time I developed a very keen interest towards photography, and I continued to work hard towards harnessing my knowledge in this field. I didn’t possess any professional camera initially. I would borrow a friend’s camera and work on my skills during the holidays.

My learning cycle has been completely online right from the start, much before I even had my own professional camera. I would look up online, learn and then experiment different creative ways at capturing pictures. With such a vast online presence, one can easily learn and master any skills.
Today I work on different events, and I’ve had a smooth journey ever since. For a person like me, who’s shy, communication has been my weak point. However, over time I was forced to speak to clients and get to know their needs, which eventually pushed me to overcome this barrier that I’ve always had.

I remember being a part of a media event at NITTE University, Mangalore in 2018, and I noticed most of the participants in the photography competition have good equipment. They all were very experienced and I never thought I’d win amongst such great talent. To my surprise I claimed the first place there.

Being a female photographer out there, I never really faced any gender issues or discrimination. It may be a male dominated field, but I’ve not let any such thoughts hinder me from pursuing ahead my goals. However, people underestimate me because of my short height when it comes to covering events.
Throughout my journey in photography, I have not had any tough clients. A few of them may have been picky; from having a bad lighting at a New Year’s party to going seven days straight editing a thousand pictures every day for a sports event. Despite this, I have enjoyed a very successful path and I always yearn for new ideas, and keep myself accustomed to events.
If one does produce good content, you need to be recognised accordingly, irrespective of your educational qualifications or social status. As I move ahead, I look forward to getting myself into cinematography and photography, and one day aspiring to set up something of my own in this field.
